The chairman and artist roles he has at YBNL are comparable to those held by American rapper Jay Z at Roc Nation.

Fireboy

Nigerian singer-songwriter Adedamola Adefolahan, best known by his stage as Fireboy DML, is a gifted 26-year-old. His big break came when he inked a recording contract with YBNL in 2018, and his debut single, “Jealous,” was included on the compilation album “YBNL Mafia Family” released that year. Later, in March 2019, the song would be made available again as a single.

His debut album, “Laughter, Tears & Goosebumps,” came out a few months later. He quickly followed up the popular record with the highly regarded album “Apollo,” which was released in 2020. In terms of stepping across boundaries, Fireboy is brilliant. ‘Peru’, his standout track from 2021, was remixed by British artist Ed Sheeran, earning him a platinum record in the UK, a spot on the US Billboard Top 100, and a collaboration with the band 1975.

Another Top artist under YBNL is Asake. ARTISTS WHO WERE ONCE UNDER THE YBNL RECORD ARE:

  • Kesh was given a lot of support from Olamide and rose to fame. He had already recorded one of the best rap albums of the year and had a ton of successes under his belt by the time he departed the label in 2016.
  • While still signed to the company, Adekunle recorded his debut album, “Gold,” and had big singles like “Orente,” “Sade,” and “Pick Up,” but like Kesh, he left in 2016.
  • Before things turned bad, Davolee had recorded a few tracks and was performing well in the streets. Like so many others, he became distracted while Olamide paid attention to other matters.
  • Temmie Ovwasa, the only female Olamide has signed, was heralded as the “YBNL princess” when she signed.

She was creating waves and swiftly gained popularity for her unique style. Some even claimed that she would one day succeed Asa. Obviously, things didn’t go so well with that.

  • Being signed to Olamide’s record label was a step in the right way for Lyta, who had the talent and the potential to become a superstar. It seems that not exactly, though.

The YBNL group blew another career opportunity. Lyta, who did not appear on the 2018 YBNL Mafia album, quit the label in 2019 and raised eyebrows.

  • After a few of Picazo’s freestyles became viral on social media in 2018, Baddo became interested in the artist, and Olamide later revealed that he had signed Picazo to YBNL.
  • Olamide felt coerced into signing his friend Yomiblaze, with whom they freestyled, as soon as he revealed the signing of Picazo. He appeared on the YBNL Mafia mixtape as well, and that is also how his narrative finishes.
