Rupert Murdoch, an Australian-born American media billionaire, founded the channel and employed Roger Ailes as its first CEO. On October 7, 1996, the track was introduced to 17 million cable subscribers.
Only 10 million households could watch Fox News at debut, with none in the main media areas of New York City or Los Angeles. According to published reports, several media critics were forced to watch the first day’s programming in Fox News’ studios because it was unavailable elsewhere.
